Johnny Swing Quarter Side Chair
The latest crazy creation from Johnny Swing (a pseudonym) is a bistro cafe chair from his Obsessive Furniture Line , more specifically the Quarter side Chair. His Obsessive Furniture Line makes use of everything objects in our daily life like glass jars, nickels and would you have it, quarters to construct his visions.
Johnny Swing’s original goal for the Quarter Chair was to come up with a simple cost-effective chair. However, according to Swing, : “This goal failed, and my more artistic obligations seemed to have resurfaced into sensual shapes held together by intricate , architectural structures.” Well fail he did, in a big way. Getting the Quarter Chair will set you back by a cool $10,000 for a limited edition handmade work of art that is limited to a set of 60 pieces.
That is only fair recompense for the amount of work that goes into the Quarter side chair. Each of the coins are adhered with a “U”-shaped metal wire that is welded at the backside of the coins(US Minted 25-cent coins) by hand. Simply imagine the number of coins needed to cover the frame of the chair and you can see that it’s well worth the money, its a bargain considering the number of man-hours out into it.
