Elegance in Simplicity

Ever wondered what is the most common element in most great designs ? The single thing that makes it so attractive to us as a whole ? It is the simplicity of the design. Think of it this way, would you be attracted to an odd shape, an irregular shape that doesn’t quite fit into the nature; or something simple like perhaps a plain old rectangle, easy on the eyes, not so complicating for our brain. You get the drift.
Take the great Barcelona by Mies van der Rohe. Cut away all the premium leather and you’ll reach the heart of the design, the humble rectangle. Elegance in simplicity.
I bring you an example of the common place bistro table. This simple tables exist for the function of allowing us to place objects that would otherwise hinder discourse aside for just a moment. Without the humble bistro table, would you be able to eat your salad and enjoy your latte In comfort ? I think not.
They exist unobtrusively often unnoticed serving all our needs. The simple bistro table, whether round, square, or rectangular, they work well for a sunny day at the beach, or even a spot outside a medieval town in France. The simplest designs, the yet the best at it’s role. Truly elegance in simplicity.
